Tip: Download the plugin 'Event Helpers' (open the preferences on Mac, then click on 'Plugins') to send time blocks to your calendar and more. Note: NotePlan won't sync the time blocks to your calendar accounts they only appear within the app (at the moment). And, you don't have to define an end time. You can also use the 24h format like 15:00 without am/pm. It is essential to use the keyword at or write the time with colons ( HH:mm). On iOS, you can use a 'swipe down' gesture inside your Daily Notes or tap on the menu icon top right of your note, then selecting 'Create an Event or Reminder.' Time Blockingīlock out some time visually in the timeline on the right by adding a time range anywhere in your task, for example, At the top, you can choose between 'Event' and 'Reminder.' On Mac, click into the timeline in the right sidebar to create an event or reminder. Note: you can choose in NotePlan's preferences under 'Calendars' which of the calendars you have added to your device should be displayed in NotePlan. Reminders that have no date won't be displayed in NotePlan. You will also see your iCloud reminders with specified dates in the calendar sidebar (Mac) or above the daily note (iOS). On iOS, open the Settings app and scroll down to 'Calendar' → 'Accounts' → 'Add Account.' To add calendar accounts to your Mac, open the System Preferences app, choose 'Internet Accounts,' and select the type of account you'd like to add from the panel on the right. NotePlan integrates with calendar accounts on your device, including iCloud, Google, Yahoo!, and other services.

The added bit of manual work forces you to reconsider each open point and prevents building up a massive list of tasks. Tasks do not automatically 'roll over' in NotePlan, and this is intentional. It also syncs with iPhone via your iCloud account. It’s perfect for daily logs and supports markdown.

This is why I always come back to using Apple Notes over everything else.īest bet so far (for my needs) was Noteplan which integrates with reminders as well, but it’s €10/month (for local usage), and at that price I can easily enter my notes into Apple Notes, and add the task manually to reminders.

And it's one of the most intensely developed apps I've ever seen, it's being developed. It also has wikilinks and linked references. It's the only app I know that has not only daily, but also weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly notes, fully integrated into the calendar and task management features.

I have a keyboard shortcut on my Mac to pull up the Drafts quick add window, which is really fast to add something to and get back to what I was doing. I also use Drafts a lot when I'm just capturing pain text things. For managing work tasks & notes, as well as other things I need to do, I mostly use an app called NotePlan.
